How To: Zip Up Your Pants

Zip Up Your Pants

Zip Up Your Pants 〰️

If you’re a barrealley babe, you know. I use this phrase all the time as a visual cue to remind you to activate your core. The How to series will teach you important barre techniques and tips that you can use in all my classes.

What is it?

Imagine you are trying to jump into your jeans, and you need to draw your belly in to be able to zip up your pants… that’s the sensation we’re looking for.

If you’re working out and not focusing on stabilizing and engaging your trunk… you will get hurt. This is so so important postpartum because your core is mush.. or worse- they sliced it open! Never stop focusing on core strength.

If you have crummy posture while working out, you’ll have crummy posture when standing at the grocery store or while picking up (and holding) a baby. You are training your body to strengthen in a harmful posture.

I try to engage my core ALL DAY. Same goes with squeezing my butt cheeks, that takes the pressure off other areas.

How To:

Start with your shoulders down and soft knees (slight bent position).

Draw your belly button towards your heart, while pulling your belly button toward your spine. Zipper your rib cage and mid section in towards your midline.

Squeeze your butt and draw your pelvic floor in and up for an extra challenge! This is hard work!

Hope this helps :)
